What are your options?
If you are an obligated producer under the packaging regulations, you have two clear routes to compliance to choose from.
1. Individual route
If you are an obligated producer and you opt to register directly, you must register with the relevant agency by the deadline of 7th April each year. You will have to pay a registration fee and provide the required packaging data for the previous year, together with a statement of the recovery and recycling obligations to be carried out. You will also need to demonstrate that sufficient PRNs/PERNs have been obtained to meet your obligation levels. If you are a producer with a turnover in excess of £5 million you must also provide an operational plan outlining the steps you intend to take to meet your recovery and recycling obligations. if you are classed as a ‘seller’ you will also have a CIO obligation to fulfil.
2. Compliance scheme route
Nearly 90% of producers choose the route of joining a compliance scheme. Membership of a scheme, such as Comply Direct, will exempt you from your obligations because the compliance scheme will take on your obligations and discharge them for you. Using a scheme also reduces the level of complexity and level of resources required to comply.
Comply Direct is the clear choice for companies looking for a smarter way to fulfil their packaging obligations. Take a look at our membership benefits to see how we can add value and take complexity and cost out of compliance.
