Membership fees
We ensure that membership fees are simple, straightforward and have no hidden extras. Our fees are divided down into three simple parts.
1. Comply Direct membership fee
| Turnover £2m-£5m | £300 + VAT |
| Small producer allocation method (turnover £2m-£5m) | £200 + VAT |
| Turnover > £5m and net obligation < 5,000 tonnes | £450 + VAT |
| Turnover > £5m and net obligation > 5,000 tonnes | £1,000 + VAT |
For companies with a main activity of selling there is an additional fee of £100 + VAT for offsetting their customer information obligation (CIO).
2. Packaging recovery notes
This is the charge we levy for the purchase of packaging waste recovery notes (PRNs) and packaging export recovery notes (PERNS) in respect of a member's recovery and recycling obligations. PRN/PERN prices are subject to supply and demand and typically vary each month depending upon market supply and demand.
Comply Direct will provide an indication of the expected PRN/PERN prices for each forthcoming obligation year. At the end of the year we reconcile to establish the actual average price and credit the difference to members.
Members of the scheme will be invoiced in advance for the first three quarterly periods of each year and then invoiced in arrears for the final quarterly period.
3. Environment Agency (EA) fees
Annual registration fee
| Standard registration fee | £564 |
| Small producer allocation method (turnover £2m-£5m) | £345 |
Subsidiary registration fees
| 1st-4th subsidiary | £180 |
| 5th-20th subsidiary | £90 each |
| 21st and each subsequent subsidiary | £45 each |
Groups of companies, whether registering individually or with a compliance scheme, will be liable to a registration fee for each subsidiary (producer) business.
Late registration feesThe deadline for registration with the EA is 7th April each year. There is a late fee payable to the EA for all registrations received after this date of £110 per member of the scheme.
Re-submission feesIf a member has to make a re-submission of their registration to the scheme following the 7th April deadline, the scheme must pay £220 per member to the EA. This cost is passed back to the member at the time of re-submission.
How to pay
- All fees are payable on application
- Payments should be made to Comply Direct Ltd and sent to our head office
- In subsequent years the membership fee will be invoiced each January
- Subsidiary fees will always need to be paid on application according to the number of companies included in the registration
