Membership fees 2008

We ensure that membership fees are simple, straight forward and have no hidden extras. Our fees are intended to be fair and non discriminatory and reflect our overall membership base which for the purpose of the WEEE Regulations includes micro businesses, SMEs, medium and large sized businesses. Our fees are divided into three simple parts:

1. Comply Direct annual membership fee

B2C (household) membership fees
UK company turnover < £1m £450 + VAT
UK company turnover > £1m and < £5m £700 + VAT
UK company turnover > £5m and < £15m £950 + VAT
UK company turnover > £15m £1,100 + VAT

Special note: if tonnage of B2C EEE placed on the market for the previous calendar year is < 10 tonnes then the default B2C membership fee, irrelevant of overall UK company turnover, is £450 + VAT and if < 200 tonnes then the default B2C membership fee is £700 + VAT.

B2B (non-household) membership fees: Option 1

Comply Direct to arrange for the collection, treatment and recycling of WEEE from business end user premises on behalf of obligated producer.

UK company turnover < £1m £350 + VAT
UK company turnover > £1m and < £5m £500 + VAT
UK company turnover > £5m and < £15m £650 + VAT
UK company turnover > £15m £800 + VAT

Special note: if tonnage of B2B EEE placed on the market for the previous calendar year is < 10 tonnes then the default B2B membership fee, irrelevant of overall UK company turnover, is £350 + VAT and if < 200 tonnes then the default B2B membership fee is £500 + VAT.

B2B (non-household) membership fees: Option 2

Producer directly arranges for the collection, treatment and recycling of WEEE from business end user premises and passes evidence notes back to Comply Direct.

UK company turnover < £5m £300 + VAT
UK company turnover > £5m £500 + VAT
Compulsory audit charge per member per compliance period (does not include mileage expenses claimed at 40p per mile to any UK location)
EEE turnover < £100k PA £450 + VAT
EEE turnover > £100k PA £600 + VAT

Special note: if a producer has a B2C and B2B obligation and registers for both via Comply Direct in any given compliance period then the above respective membership fees would be subject to a discount of 25%.

Key points regarding membership fees
  • UK company turnover figures based on last audited accounts.
  • EEE turnover figures based on previous calendar year.
  • The first compliance period runs from date of membership approval until 31 December 2007
  • B2B members making own WEEE collection, treatment and recycling arrangements must ensure that all steps are in place for this by 1 July 2007.
  • B2B producers undertaking their own arrangements should request an audit as soon as possible into each compliance period to ensure appropriate measures are in place. Failure to address inadequate measures may result in membership of scheme neing terminated.
  • Both agency and annual membership fees are to be paid to Comply Direct before 15 March 2007 otherwise registration with the relevant agency will not take place.
  • A member cannot leave the compliance scheme until the end of a compliance period and must give 60 days notice.

2. WEEE evidence fees

B2C collection, treatment and recycling fees

Members will be charged a proportional material levy fee based on their supplied market data of the amount of EEE they have put on the market by category. This levy will be charged at the beginning of each quarterly period. The fee is to meet the actual cost per member of collection, treatment, recovery, recyclng, and disposal of WEEE as per the Regulations.

At the end of a full compliance period there will almost certainly be a need for a fifth quarterly invoice which will either credit or debit members further so that the actual costs incurred are in line with the paid quarterly in advance invoices by members throughout the compliance period.

The cost of providing storage containers at DCFs, providing transportation from DCFs to AATFs and the cost of treatment at AATFs is going to be variable from compliance period to period and at this stage is uncertain for 2007.

B2B collection, treatment and recycling fees

B2B members requiring Comply Direct to collect, treat and recycle WEEE from their business end user customers will be invoiced each month for all collections undertaken on their behalf for the month. Please ask Comply Direct for more details on the estimated costs for collection, treatment and recycling of B2B WEEE from end user premises.

Late registration fees

All late registration fees and expenses incurred by Comply Direct for handling late registrations will be passed directly back to the member concerned.
