TVs and monitors containing CRTs

Many televisions and computer monitors will contain cathode ray tubes (CRTs) and are therefore considered to be hazardous products under the hazardous waste legislation. Because of this, they have to be dealt with separately on site and all contaminants must be removed before they can be recycled further.

We have the capability to handle all CRT equipment and ensure its safe disposal.

The full process involves the CRTs being removed from the TVs and monitors, as well as any other hazardous substances such as batteries, PCBs, flexes/cords, fluids etc.

CRTs are considered hazardous because they contain leaded glass, as well as non-leaded glass. The two types of glass are separated, along with the fluorescent layer, electron gun, shadowmask, iron oxide and graphite coating from the glass.

The recovery and recycling rates achieved through this process are around 95% of the total input of equipment.

No matter where you are based in the UK we can offer a cost-effective service to deal with the safe disposal of your CRT containing equipment. Request a quote now.
